Chania (Χανιά), the beautiful port city just like Rethymno, is located in the western part of the Greek island of Crete. After Heraklion it is the second largest city on the island. From 1841 to 1971 Chania was the capital of Crete.
Especially the old Venetian harbour with its numerous cafés and taverns is a magnet for many tourists and invites you to stroll and stay.
In Chania, on the way to Plakias, take the bus from the CHQ International Airport, which is about 12 kilometres outside the city. Near Chania, the ferry port is located in Souda Bay. From here there is a daily ferry service to Piraeus.
